Medea, the new band fronted by diva Glenda Collens, gave what fans have called their best performance yet at Shakers on the Avenue on Saturday night.

Members of the band's loyal following, many of whom had been seen enjoying the band's music at their previous Ariapita Avenue gigs at Studio Lounge and Sky Bar recently, turned out to support Glenda and her crew.

Glenda, who has recently been made a celebrity judge on a popular local talent show, entertained the Shakers crowd with her versatile vocal style and her fabulous yet personable charm.

The band delivered  covers like Jill Scott's Golden and Long Walk, Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered, It's Too Late by Carol King and Show Some Emotion by Joan Armatrading, as well as one of their own original songs, mixing soul, R&B, pop and jazz with a unique Caribbean flavour.

Band members include Glenda, acclaimed as an international operatic singer and a producer of several major shows locally, husband Shane Collens on bass, Ryan Mohammed on guitar, Rene Coryat on drums and ace drummer Lion on the djimbe.

The band's next Avenue gig is set to take place at The Corner Bar, in a few weeks' time.
